How to find a saved video when you don't remember the name
Open the saved list of the network where you saw the video (Saved on Instagram, Favorites on TikTok, Watch later on YouTube) and search with two clues you're sure of: the topic and the creator, or the topic and a phrase.
Step by step
- Open the saved list of the network where you saw the video (see the table below).
- Choose two clues you're sure of, like the topic and the creator.
- Look in the collection for that topic first; then on the creator's profile.
Where each network's saved list is
| Network | Path |
|---|---|
| Your profile picture → ☰ → Saved | |
| TikTok | Profile → bookmark tab (Favorites) |
| YouTube | You → Watch later or Playlists |
| ☰ → Saved | |
| X | Your profile picture → Bookmarks |
| Saved → Boards |
Can't remember which network it was on? Check your chats: if you sent the video to someone, the link is there.
Write down what you remember
Before opening the apps, write in one line what stuck with you: “someone was adjusting the chair height and talking about the armrest”. That gives you the clues: chair, armrest, keyboard. “Posture video” is too broad.
- Use two clues at a time. “Chair keyboard”, then “armrest desk”.
- Separate what you're sure of from guesses. You're sure about the chair, not the shirt color. Start with what you're sure of.
- Swap words. “Setting” instead of “adjustment”, the everyday word instead of the technical one.
When your clue is a phrase
If you remember what was said, follow the steps to find a video by what was said. For Instagram, there's a dedicated guide to find a Reel saved months ago; for TikTok, one on how to search your Favorites.
If you never saved the video, there's another way: see how to find a video without remembering its name, through your history and chats.
Sources
The paths for each network, with their sources, are in each network's guides. To search for speech inside a YouTube video, see the transcript help page.
